Intensive Therapy Blocks
What are Intensives?
Throughout the term and school holiday breaks, our therapists extend an invitation to both existing and new clients to participate in therapy ‘Intensives.’ These intensive therapy blocks offer a focused opportunity to work continuously on specific goals, with increased frequency over a short period.
Therapy Intensives serve various purposes:
- Accelerating progress: By increasing the frequency of sessions, clients can make significant strides towards their goals in a shorter time frame, when deemed clinically appropriate.
- Providing short-term support: Families on waiting lists can benefit from short-term support and tools through Intensives, following an initial consultation. This enables them to continue fostering progress within their home environment while awaiting regular therapy sessions.
How Do Intensive Therapy Blocks Work?
If you’re new to Emble Allied Health and haven’t started therapy yet, the first step is to engage in an initial consultation with one of our therapists in person, via videoconference or over the phone.
During this consultation, our therapists will assess your child’s needs and discuss the best course of action for your family. This might include options such as:
- Conducting a formal assessment to better understand your child’s strengths and areas for growth.
- Collaborating closely with parents to equip them with skills and strategies to support their child’s development.
- Engaging in intensive therapy sessions focused on a specific goal over a series of sessions.
Based on the assessment and discussion, our team will work with you to determine the most effective approach to meet your child’s needs and support their progress.
Continued Support After Intensive Therapy Blocks:
If we’re unable to provide ongoing sessions during the term, there are several options available to support your child’s progress:
- Re-engage in Intensive Blocks: You can opt to participate in intensive therapy blocks when they become available, typically offered during school holiday periods. These concentrated sessions allow for focused work on specific goals.
- Home Program Development: Your therapist can create a personalised home program for you to implement with your child. This program will include activities and strategies to support ongoing progress between therapy sessions.
- Join the Therapist's Cancellation Waitlist: By joining the therapist's cancellation waitlist, you'll be notified of any available slots due to cancellations. This provides an opportunity for you to schedule therapy sessions as they become available.
- Receive Assessment Reports: We provide comprehensive reports summarising assessment results, which can help guide ongoing support and interventions for your child.
