Group Therapy
What are Group Therapy programs?
Group therapy programs, created by our team of therapists, provide children the opportunity to develop and target multiple skills within a small group environment, while supported by our clinicians and therapy assistants.
Our group therapy programs target a variety of skills, including:
- Expressive language skills, including vocabulary
- Receptive language skills, including following directions
- Communication
- Fine motor skills
- Gross motor skills
- Sensory exploration and regulation
- Parent-child attachment & shared enjoyment
- Self-expression and confidence
- Mindfulness
- Emotional regulation
- School readiness skills
- Play in all its forms
- Literacy skills
- And provides children the opportunity to interact and play with peers of a similar age
In addition to group therapy programs, we also offer regular ‘Special Interest Groups’, which provides children the opportunity to engage with peers who are interested in the same things as them.
For example, a Pokémon group, which invites children to discuss Pokémon as well as engage in some Pokémon themed activities.
Experience the Difference in Our Group Therapy Programs:
- We offer group therapy that’s anything but ordinary. We believe in making every session fun, exciting, and unforgettable. Instead of sticking to a standard format, we listen to our families and design groups that match the interests and needs of our community.
- We love collaborating with others to bring diverse programs and experiences to our clients. From animal incursions, sports programs, cooking, music, dance, and more, there’s always something new and exciting happening in our group therapy programs.
- Our approach is all about creating meaningful moments while maintaining therapeutic value for every child. We want our groups to be authentic and welcoming, where children can be themselves and make real connections.
- In our group therapy sessions, we encourage individuality and celebrate differences. Our goal is to create a supportive environment where children can socialise freely and find friends who share their interests.
How Can Group Therapy Benefit Your Child?
Group therapy programs provide an invaluable opportunity for children to put into practice the skills they’ve learned in one-on-one sessions, now in a new environment, alongside their peers.
- Increased access to therapy support: If your child is on a waitlist for individual therapy, group therapy offers a way to receive support promptly and consistently.
- Small group sizes, high therapist ratios: Our small group sizes ensure that each child receives ample attention and support from our therapists. This means your child gets quality service tailored to their needs.
- Building friendships and creating opportunities for socialisation: Group therapy isn't just about therapy; it's also about building connections. Your child will have the chance to make friends and socialise with peers of similar ages and interests, fostering a sense of belonging and community.
