Services

How we work with your child

Whether your child needs support at our clinic, in the community, or through telehealth, we offer a variety of services designed just for them.

Our approach involves:

  • Understanding: We take a holistic and strengths-based perspective, ensuring therapy is tailored to your child and family’s individual needs.
  • Collaboration: We value input from caregivers, educators, professionals, and the broader community, fostering a collaborative approach to therapy.
  • Creating a Pressure-Free Environment: Sessions are conducted in a stress-free environment, allowing your child the freedom to explore and express themselves authentically.

Additionally, we integrate the following therapeutic elements:

  • Sensory Integration: We incorporate your child’s sensory preferences into our therapeutic strategies.
  • Special Interests: Whatever your child’s special interest or passion area is, our therapists seek to incorporate these into therapy sessions.
  • Play-Based Approach: We utilise play to build connections and trust, fostering a strong therapeutic relationship.
  • Inclusive Communication: Our team is proficient in diverse augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies, ensuring every child’s mode of expression is welcome and supported.

Our strengths-based, neuro-affirming, and holistic approach aims to empower not only your child and family but also the broader community, promoting awareness, inclusion, development, and accessibility.

Assessments can be used to:

  • Understand your child’s skills comparatively with same-aged peers;
  • Form part of a multi-disciplinary Autism Diagnosis;
  • Explore and/or form a diagnosis of Intellectual Disability, ADHD, Specific Learning Disability (e.g.: dyslexia) and giftedness.
  • Report progress (for example, in an NDIS Review Report); and
  • Determine eligibility for access to other funding pools and/or inclusion support (such as Disability Inclusion in schools).

Your Journey with Us

Whilst every child and family’s therapeutic journey is unique, here’s how we deliver our services and supports:

STEP 1

Enquiry and Initial Contact:

  • Upon receiving your enquiry, a member of our Client Liaison Team will reach out to you.
  • During this initial contact, we’ll aim to gain a deeper understanding of your concerns, your child’s needs, and your therapy goals.
  • We’ll also discuss your preferences for session times, location, and modality to ensure a suitable match.

STEP 2

Therapist Matching:

  • Once we have mutual availability, we will match you with a suitable Therapist on our team.
  • We consider factors such as expertise, therapeutic approach, and compatibility to ensure the best possible and available fit for you and your child.

STEP 3

Welcome Pack and Intake Documentation:

  • Upon confirmation of your therapy sessions, you’ll receive a welcome pack containing essential information about our services and what to expect.
  • You’ll also be required to complete intake documentation before starting any therapy with us.

STEP 4

Initial Consultation:

  • Your first appointment will be an initial consultation with your therapist.
  • This appointment is typically conducted without the child present to allow for open discussion of sensitive topics and concerns.
  • You can choose to meet in person at our clinic in Mill Park or via Telehealth (videoconference or telephone).

STEP 5

Assessment (If Appropriate):

  • Where clinically appropriate, our therapists may conduct formal and/or informal assessments to gain a deeper understanding of your child’s strengths and areas of need.
  • The results of the assessment will inform your child’s individualised service and support plan.

STEP 6

Goal-Setting Interview:

  • During your initial consultation or following assessment (if required), your therapist will conduct a goal-setting interview with you (and your child, if appropriate).
  • Together, you’ll establish specific, measurable, and achievable goals for therapy.

STEP 7

Development of Service and Support Plan:

  • Using the information gathered from the initial consultation, goal-setting interview, and any assessments, your therapist will develop a Service and Support Plan.
  • This plan outlines the goals, details, and strategies to support your child’s development across their natural environments.

STEP 8

Therapy Sessions:

  • Therapy sessions commence upon the establishment of your child’s Service and Support Plan.
  • Our therapy sessions are tailored to your child’s individual needs, integrating their preferences, motivators, and strengths. Through a blend of play and evidence-based strategies, we foster your child’s development.
  • In addition to direct therapy, we emphasise empowering parents through coaching and education to support their child’s development.
  • Therapy sessions can occur in diverse settings, including our clinic, your home, school, or community, depending on goals and preferences.

STEP 9

Progress Reporting

After every session, our Therapists document your child’s progress towards their goals which can be shared with you and the people integral to your child’s education, care and development (with your formal written consent).

STEP 10

Review Meetings:

  • The Service and Support Plan will be reviewed on a regular basis, typically quarterly, bi-annually, or annually.
  • During review meetings, you’ll meet with your therapist and other relevant stakeholders to discuss progress, adjust goals as needed, and update the plan accordingly.

We offer clinic-based, telehealth and mobile therapy services.
