About Speech Pathology

Our Speech Pathologists are dedicated to empowering children and adolescents to express themselves, as well as to safely and effectively eat, drink and swallow. At Emble, all forms of communication are accepted and embraced. Our team is experienced in the implementation of high- and low-tech Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices and strategies.

Our approach is evidence-based, neuro-affirming and client-centred, meaning we tailor our support to meet the individualised needs and preferences of each child and adolescent. We strive to empower our clients to communicate effectively, build confidence, and thrive within their natural environment.

Speech Pathology Assessments

Our team of Speech Pathologists are experienced in conducting comprehensive assessments to evaluate communication, language, speech and swallowing abilities. These assessments may include standardised assessments, informal observations, and interviews with parents and caregivers. The information gathered helps us identify areas of strength and areas needing support, informing the development of individualised treatment plans.

Our Speech Pathology team provides the following types of assessments:

Speech Sound Assessments:
These assessments identify which sounds your child may not be able to pronounce correctly, to inform goal setting as well as support identification of speech sound errors, such as motor planning challenges or phonological processing delays.
Language Assessments:
Language assessments explore the development of a child’s expressive and receptive language skills, to further inform goal setting and strategies and therapy planning. They are also instrumental in supporting students and families seeking in-school funding or exploring a diagnosis of Autism.
Feeding Assessment:
Feeding assessments provide valuable information through evaluation of oral motor skills to support safe eating and drinking.
Literacy Assessments:
Assessing reading, writing, and spelling abilities to tailor therapeutic strategies and educational plans.
